Academics

Racine St. Catherine’s curriculum is designed to challenge students while both providing a strong foundation of knowledge and allowing the opportunity to explore different fields of study. Our goal as a school is to prepare students for post-secondary life. We want each of our students to be college and career ready. 100% of our students graduate from St. Catherine’s High School with a foundation preparing them for success.

St. Catherine’s enriching curriculum is delivered by excellent teachers who value each student as an individual and will move mountains to help him/her succeed. Nearly 20% of our faculty are alums of St. Catherines.

Our school is dedicated to continuous innovation. In the interest of preparing students to excel in an increasingly technological world, every Angel completes curriculum on an Apple iPad. Our commitment to curricular growth is evident in multiple ways:

  • $1.2 million renovation within our science department introducing greater capacity for our growing STEM program

  • The addition of Microsoft’s Technology Education and Literacy in Schools (TEALS) program providing opportunities for students to learn computer coding and open new doors in a fast-growing industry

  • We are excited to add new courses that fit the needs of our students and the strengths of our teachers. Recent additions include: AP Computer Science Principles, Principles of Biomedical Science, and Journalism.

Interdisciplinary instruction connects all subject matter to a main theme that is then taught across different subjects. Our theme, and focus, is literacy acquisition by improving vocabulary. By connecting all subjects, students naturally delve deeper into the material which helps them think more strategically, comprehend better and remember longer.

At this critical time in a child’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual development, we believe the moral strength a student receives from an education firmly rooted in faith directly affects the kind of person they become for the rest of their lives. Our academic program is rooted in the Catholic teachings. Teachers often begin class with prayer and offer opportunities for students to engage with their faith lens within each content area. Students also attend monthly liturgies and prayer services and are encouraged to join the school’s Campus Ministry group to help coordinate, lead and serve at these gatherings.

From the time they begin at St. Catherine's High School, students follow a comprehensive program administered by the Guidance Department that is designed to aid them in their path of self-discovery in order to grow spiritually and mentally in preparation for life beyond high school.
